Ascot Racecourse has announced its debut partnership with celebrated chef, James Tanner.
Tanner will be hosting a pop-up restaurant in the Queen Anne Enclosure at Royal Ascot this year. To be known as ‘The Queen Anne Kitchen’ it will be a walk-in, no reservations set-up.
The menu will be centred on brasserie style dishes inspired by Tanner’s Barbican Kitchen restaurant located in Plymouth, which he co-owns with his brother Chris Tanner.
Dishes will include a West Country crab salad with pink grapefruit and avocado; salt and pepper squid with Miso mayo, lime and coriander shoots; and a 100% steak burger with a brioche bun, burger sauce, smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, pickles and fries.
Desserts will include Pave of chocolate, oreo crumb and crème fraiche sorbet and an Eton Mess with English strawberries.
He said: “Royal Ascot is one of the world’s most prestigious racing events and a highlight in the British social calendar. I am both delighted and honoured to be hosting The Queen Anne Kitchen alongside the Sodexo scholars.
“Guests can look forward to watching the action unfold whilst dining on delicious dishes that celebrate the best in British ingredients. Our approach to dining is based on delivering high quality, local food, and is the staple of our restaurants, including our award-winning Kent gastropub, The Kentish Hare and our Plymouth based brasserie, Barbican Kitchen – it is fantastic to be bringing a taste of this to the heart of Royal Ascot.”
Further foodie highlights to look forward to at Royal Ascot this June include:
- Angela Hartnett’s celebrated Café Murano as a pop up, walk-in restaurant in the Royal Enclosure. The Italian-based menu offers a wide range of options on a two or three course menu including home made gnocchi with broad beans, peas, mint and pecorino; pork belly with braised baby gem lettuce; and roasted hake with courgette and hazelnut salad.
- The Smokehouse by Hotbox and B.O.B’s Lobster will be sure to tempt taste buds in the new Village Enclosure. HotBox will bring flavours from its classic East London Restaurant with a selection of house favourites using a combination of kiln dried Hickory and Oak in their one tonne Rotisserie Smoker. B.O.B’s Lobster has been recognised as one of the best street vendors in the world and will be serving its signature Lobster roll.
- A Best of British Picnic on the Windsor Enclosure Lawns. Pre-bookable picnics featuring the very best artisan produce from producers across the British Isles can be pre-booked and picked up on the day by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Upgrades. Choose from The Villiers Club within The Village Enclosure which is located at the heart of the track next to the home straight offering live music, cocktails and canapes to be enjoyed throughout the day. Alternatively, The Furlong Club is located within The Queen Anne Enclosure close to the bandstand and within the Parade Ring. Here a private bar and lounge area offers a varied menu including Caviar House & Prunier, producer of the world’s finest Prunier caviar and Balik smoked salmon.
Royal Ascot will take place from Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th June 2017.
