The stage is set for the Sports & Leisure Catering Awards to take its hat-trick ball, as the famous BAFTA theatre plays host for the third annual celebration.
Once again SLC magazine has travelled across the UK to find those sports and leisure caterers taking food and beverage to new heights in what is an extremely fast-paced and inventive industry.
This year, we feel like we have seen it all. From robotic waiters serving up drinks at the bar to virtual kitchens, and from beer made out of recycled bread to stadia going completely cashless, the pace at which technology is changing the industry is incredible.
And it is not just technology that has hit the high notes, with celebrity chefs taking up residence in art galleries and Michelin maestros making ever more inroads into sporting spectacles. The famous Royal Ascot horse-racing festival saw no fewer than five Michelin stars operating in its restaurants this year, while Wimbledon welcomed a dynasty of Roux chefs to its hospitality kitchens.
With eight awards up for grabs, we have taken into consideration football stadia, theatres, palaces, museums, National Trust properties and golf clubs, all of which have shown amazing levels of quality across their food, service and delivery.
The innovation and distinction being shown by the nominees for the 2018 Sports & Leisure Catering Awards has validated just how vital we believe the food and drink at sports events and leisure attractions has become in the last few years.
But while the hard work continues, right now it is time to celebrate.
Held at the world-renowned BAFTA in London on Wednesday 12 September, the glittering awards ceremony will be hosted by popular television presenter and personality Mark Durden-Smith.
Taking home an award that recognises the dedication to catering excellence is the perfect way to celebrate the high levels of food and beverage management that exist across the UK’s top attractions.
On the night, guests will be treated to mouthwatering canapés and delectable drinks in association with our sponsors as well as having the opportunity to network and mingle among some of the best sports and leisure caterers in the UK.
